What girl hasn't seen pictures of a wedding on some gorgeous beach, the bride and groom frolicking through the water, holding hands with not a care in the world and thought "wow, I want that!"? While this is something that may seem like a dream come true, often times, when couples get engaged destination weddings are immediately vetoed by parents, friends, bridal party, etc. The people involved in the wedding don't want to travel, the parents think it may be too expensive, how could a bride possibly plan her wedding from 1,000 miles away and remain sane? It is possible and becoming pretty popular in the wedding industry!
We are currently working with several brides to plan their very own destination weddings in 2013 and 2014. While this can seem like a daunting task for any bride to undertake, it really isn't that far out of reach!
The first step is to hire a good planner/coordinator...she or he will save you hours upon hours of searching the Internet, calling people states away and pulling your hair out wondering if the vendors are reliable or the venue is even a real place!
Next, you want to whittle your guest list down as much as possible, this will save you a ton of stress and money! The less people, the less the wedding will cost.
Make sure that your bridal party is in it for the long haul-they need to understand they will have to take a few days off of work (maybe), purchase their attire and cover their plane tickets, accommodations, etc.
Find the perfect place! Why not take a short weekend with your fiancee to your destination and discover venues, check out the locations and see what you like or don't like. If a weekend getaway isn't possible, make sure that your planner and the venue understand you are renting a space sight unseen.
Make sure your attire, as well as your groom's attire is perfect for your destination-no one wants a 12' train dragging through the sand at a beach wedding!
Plan a list of fun activities for your guests when they arrive, your planner can help with this-list out movie theaters, great restaurants, golf courses, etc in the area and give your guests suggestions of things to explore (a quick Google search will return tons of results for you)
Although a destination wedding may seem impossible at first, it really is possible!
